Use this command:
git ls-files | grep -v COPYING \
| xargs env UPDATE_COPYRIGHT_USE_INTERVALS=1 \
build-aux/update-copyright
A note about Makefile.am.in. It is used (usually only by the maintainer) to generate some of the Makefile.am files in these subdirectories.
